Instrument Family Slide Presentations

This week in music, the fourth graders have been presenting their Google Slide Shows on the various instrument families that we've been learning about in music class. Each class was divided into small groups of the Strings, Woodwinds, Percussion, and Brass families.

The groups were in charge of creating their own slides describing their specific instruments and having pictures and videos on their slides to show to their classmates. All of the groups did a very good job with their presentations.

Nice work, fourth graders! :-)

It's Opera Time for the 3rd Graders

For the past few weeks, the third grade classes at Meadow View have been learning about the Opera. We've been learning about opera by listening and watching a variety of arias and talking about the different voice/singing types. They are: Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and Bass. MDV students got a special reward after their hard work in music class by getting to attend a real Opera performed by members of the Florentine Opera from Milwaukee, at the Oconomowoc Arts Center. Last week we attended a special opera for young students called, The Billy Goats Gruff, an opera based on the classic fairy tale.

Take a look at the pictures of the fun time that we had last Tuesday afternoon at the Opera!

Fourth Grade Instrument Family FUN

The fourth graders are currently learning about the instrument families of the orchestra, in preparation for our upcoming field trip to see the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in March! Students have been working hard in small groups with iPad technology to create their own slide shows about each instrument in their groups instrument family. Students have spent the last few classes working on their slide presentations and will be showing them to their classmates next week.

Stay tuned for more pictures from the presentations next week! :)
